WHEN EVERYTHING MATTERS
is the topic and title of the poster exhibition about the war in Ukraine, which took part within the International Arsenal Book Festival at the end of June 2023 in Kyiv.
It has been organized by the Pictoric group, a group of ukranian illustrators, who create illustration and design projects, organize exhibitions and workshops since 2014
As the war started and the news spread I could not help but think about being isolated from my family, friends and loved ones.
I thought about losing them, I could not stand the perception of not being able to help them, not to be there for them. I had constant nightmares about violently losing them.
This illustration represents one of the nightmares: running to my parent’s house finding this, just not in time for apparently a few seconds.
Everything is unstable, temporary: the bottle is about to fall, as are both the book and the candypot, the room is about to be eaten by the flames.
This is how I started feeling everything, unstable and temporary.
I could not help connecting to people with disabilities and hospitalized people, as first thought.

So the first thing I started doing was donate to hospitals and associations.
Since it is impossible to control that, my challenge is to make changes in the immediate present and talking to friends we shared more or less the same fears.
I started focusing more on the feeling of gratitude I was experiencing so much asking myself, how lucky am I to have close to me all these persons I love?
And how lucky I am that this is acknowledged?
That nobody would ever ever question this, as it should be?
All of that are topics I already cared about, but It has moved inside me a more urgent feeling to do something on a daily basis, not important how small it is the apport I give, or I feel it is, could be valuing more the time with family and loved ones, can be helping with fights for equal rights, but really everything matters, and matters now.
Thanks for watching!
